Hobble Creek Paved Trail: AKA Spotted Frog Trail, 6.8 miles out-and-back

Image
It rained constantly all day yesterday and last night, so we changed plans and decided to do a paved trail this morning. If you have to run on pavement, the Hobble Creek Trail is an excellent choice. This trail gradually climbs up beautiful Hobble Creek Canyon over rolling hills to the golf course. Sean Stretching Looking up Hobble Creek Canyon  Satellite view of the canyon

Getting There: Wardsworth Trailhead is 7.8 miles up Right Fork Hobble Creek Canyon. The road was closed .5 miles from the trailhead so we ran half a mile on pavement.   Shuttle: We dropped a car at Dry Fork Canyon, 1.7 miles below Wardsworth Trailhead.   Overlook Detour: We added 2.5 miles to this run by taking a detour at the top to a beautiful overlook.  It was well worth the extra distance. Packard Canyon to Kirkman Hollow, 7.0

Wow! This one was worth the early wake up and longer drive up Right Fork Hobble Creek. The views were absolutely breathtaking, but we had to work for them.  The hills on this run made for a tough workout.  Dennis sat this one out to take care of a sore achilles.   Total distance from Packard to Kirkman was 7 miles.  We did a shuttle, leaving one vehicle at the Kirkman trailhead.  Packard Trailhead is 3.4 miles up the road, so the full loop would be 10.4 miles.
